Knock Knock Stationery
made from old Vietnamese doors

This entire series is made out of thrown away doors found in scrap yards. In Vietnam, old doors came in vivid colors and textures. Some of them have many coats of paint on them to show the times they have been through.

One of the stories we heard was usually one coat of paint is to celebrate a landmark era for a family. Some of them had more than 5 to 10 coats. These doors are often thrown away or sold as scrap. We collected these doors & created a series of stationary that give them a second life.

This series was made in collaboration with Green around the corner. An eco friendly concept store in Saigon.

The typography of these fridge magnets were based out of old Vietnamese shop signs that was documented and then silk screened on to the old wood.

The Ruler

Even when we re-purposed the doors, there were some strips that were left behind at our workshop. We wanted to rte-use them too, so we silk-screen measurements on them to turn them into rulers.

The Notebooks

Most of the doors were used to create a note book series. The original color and texture of the wood was kept intact. All books are 100% repurposed, hand-stitched & hand-crafted.
